Our free Apps are now Updated for Vault 2022!

At COOLORANGE, we have developed a set of free software tools for Autodesk Vault designed to improve your user experience with Vault and help you make the most of it. Whether you have been using them for a while or you haven’t tried them yet, here’s a quick brush-up on what they can do for you

The release of Autodesk Vault 2022 is here, and so are the free Apps developed by us to enhance your Vault UI and improve your productivity. All the apps are available through the Autodesk’s app store and constantly updated to be compatible with the latest version of Vault .
In case you’re wondering what these apps are for, they are plug-ins to help you boost Autodesk Vault and make your everyday use of it easier, smoother and more productive or customized.
Following is a practical review of the specific features of each app and the tasks they can help you manage within the Autodesk Vault environment.

qJob

Not all jobs are automated. Sometimes you might need to run the job manually on certain files, folders, etc. Sometimes you might just have just to test a job.
This is where qJob comes in.

How it works

To throw in your own menu item that adds a job to the Job Queue, simply add an entry (look at the existing entries) to the ‘MenuSettings.xml’ file located at:

%ProgramData%Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\coolOrange.qJob.bundle\<Vault Version Number> and restart your Vault client.

Once the app is restarted, you will find the updated menu depending on the configuration in the entry, which will add the corresponding job defined in the configuration to the job queue.

referenceInspector

This app combines the “Uses” and “Where Used” Autodesk® Vault® tabs.
When a file is selected in Vault, referenceInspector provides an additional “referenceInspector” tab. This tab displays the references (Uses) of the file in the left window, whereas the files in which the selected file is used (Where Used) are displayed on the right side. This allows you to find out all the other assemblies which contain each component of a given assembly.

I.e: by selecting a component in the left window of referenceInspector, you will be able to see all the assemblies and drawings in which this component is used, without having to jump back and forth among different Vault tabs.

How it works

On the context menu, you will find the following commands:

• Go To Folder: just like Vault’s ‘Go To Folder’ menu, this command brings into focus the folder in the Navigation panel to which the file belongs. If the folder selected in the Navigation panel is the one that is currently selected, then nothing happens.
• Go To File: again, like Vault’s ‘Go To File menu’, this command selects the file in the Vault explorer area above. This triggers a refresh and the tab is then filled with the content of the current selection.
• Go To Working Folder: this command also works like the one that goes under the same name in Vault. Click here to open the corresponding working folder. In case it does not exist yet, it will be created and opened.
• Expand All: available only for referenceInspector, this menu expands all the child nodes for a selected node.
• Collapse All: available only for referenceInspector, this menu collapses all the child notes for a selected node.

drawingInspector

The drawingInspector plug-in allows you to view the drawing files of your models.
It is an app that extends Autodesk® Vault® with a custom “drawingInspector” tab where you can view all the drawings of the selected model on one side and all the components of that model which do not have any drawings on the other side. This obviously makes it is easier for you tell the models with an existing drawing from those for which the drawing is missing.

How it works
